Massive Russian attack on Kyiv and Kyiv region kills at least 15, injures about 50
Russian forces struck the Kyiv region with ballistic missiles and drones.
The strikes caused damage in the Bucha, Brovary, and Fastiv districts. At least 14 people have died, according to data from Tymur Tkachenko, head of the Kyiv region administration — nine in the Brovary district, four in Bucha, and one in Fastiv. At least 22 people were injured.
Warehouses and production facilities were damaged in the Brovary district, and warehouse buildings were also hit in Bucha and Fastiv.
Ukrzaliznytsia clarified that some of those killed in the Kyiv region had been standing on a railway platform near the logistics centers targeted in the attack.
Kyiv itself also came under attack. One person has died, Mayor Vitali Klitschko said, and another 26 residents were injured — 16 of them hospitalized, four in serious condition.
In the Holosiivskyi district, a strike destroyed a private home and a warehouse, and people may be trapped under the rubble, Klitschko wrote. A separate strike on a nonresidential building in the same district caused an ammonia leak.
Russia’s Defense Ministry claimed the overnight strike on Kyiv and the surrounding region on August 5 targeted transportation and logistics hubs and distribution centers used to store and deliver military cargo, as well as facilities producing drones.
