Russian factory fined 50,000 rubles for missing ‘mobilization reserve’ recruitment quota

The Lepse electrical machinery plant in Russia’s Kirov region was fined 50,000 rubles after management failed to meet its staffing quota for the “mobilization reserve,” the independent investigative outlet Verstka reported.

A court ruling obtained by journalists showed that the plant was required to meet its staffing quota for the “mobilization reserve” by March 4. Management missed the deadline, and in early June the plant was fined for failing to comply with a directive from the regional governor or the region’s operational headquarters.

The plant’s lawyers said management had taken steps to recruit personnel, but that efforts to persuade employees had been “unsuccessful,” Verstka reported. No suitable candidates for the reserve were found, the lawyers said, though the quota has since been met.

Mediazona, an independent Russian news outlet, found that at least two other Kirov enterprises — the Selmash and Mayak plants — had also been fined for failing to meet their reservist quotas.
