Sevastopol imposes power restrictions after Ukrainian drone strike on electrical substation
Sevastopol’s Russia-appointed governor, Mikhail Razvozhaev, announced on the morning of June 25 that the city had imposed a “temporary power restriction regime.” Outages would be carried out “selectively and as needed,” he said, adding that no precise hourly schedule had been set.
Razvozhaev said the restrictions were needed to ease the strain on electrical grids outside Sevastopol “to prevent a failure across the entire power system.”
“If possible, please try to reduce the load on the grid now and avoid using high-powered appliances,” Razvozhaev told residents.
The restrictions came a day after Ukraine attacked the city’s main electrical substation with drones, knocking out power across parts of Sevastopol for most of June 24. In the early hours of June 25, Razvozhaev said electricity had been restored.
