Source: TASS

A storm tore through the Sverdlovsk region on the evening of June 22, damaging homes and power line poles. Kushva was hit hardest; the city has since been placed under a state of emergency.

The storm damaged 99 private homes in total, completely destroying 32, and also wrecked 25 vehicles and 15 power lines, according to the Emergency Situations Ministry.

Sixteen people were injured. One, with a broken forearm, was transferred from Kushva to Nizhny Tagil for hospital treatment; the rest were treated on-site, the Russian state news agency TASS reported. A temporary shelter accommodating 50 people has been set up in the city.

Power went out across Kushva. Critical facilities were switched to backup systems, and full restoration of electricity is expected by the evening of June 23.
