Rosneft and its subsidiaries Bashneft and TNK have stopped selling gasoline in canisters at stations across Russia, the independent Russian news outlet Verstka reported.
“Due to heightened seasonal demand, fuel is being sold only into vehicle tanks. This applies to all stations in the network — Rosneft, Bashneft, and TNK. This information applies to all customers in Russia. The restrictions are temporary,” a company hotline representative told the outlet.
Stations have also capped the amount of fuel that can be pumped directly into a tank — “as a rule” 90 liters (about 24 gallons), according to the same support staff member.
Tatneft had reported earlier that its gas stations across Russia were limiting the amount of fuel sold.
Fuel shortages in Russia have been observed amid intensified Ukrainian drone strikes on oil refineries and other infrastructure.
