Ukrainian forces strike occupied Kherson region, damaging bridges leading to Crimea

Source: Vladimir Saldo

Ukrainian forces struck bridges connecting occupied Crimea with the Kherson region in the early hours of June 11, according to Vladimir Saldo, the Russia-appointed governor of the occupied part of the Kherson region.

Saldo identified four structures that came under attack: bridges crossing the North Crimean Canal near the settlements of Preobrazhenka and Myrne, the road bridge between Perekop and Armiansk, and the bridge near the settlement of Stavky. All sustained damage, he said.

“The enemy is attempting to concentrate strikes on the transport infrastructure of the region. Information on traffic and restoration timelines will be provided additionally,” Saldo said.

In the second half of May, Ukrainian forces stepped up strikes on roads leading into Crimea, contributing, among other things, to fuel shortages on the occupied peninsula. In recent days, Ukrainian troops have twice targeted the Chonhar Bridge, which links Crimea with the Kherson region. Traffic on the bridge was suspended.
