Source: Nicusor Dan

Romania is expelling Consul General Andrei Kosilin and closing Russia’s consulate general in Constanta. Romanian President Nicusor Dan announced the decision after a meeting of the country’s Supreme Defense Council, convened following the crash of a Russian drone on the roof of a residential building in the city of Galati.

Dan had called the drone incident the most serious to affect Romanian territory since the start of Russia’s aggressive war against Ukraine and pledged proportionate measures.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said that “retaliatory measures in connection with the declaration of the Russian consul general as persona non grata and the closure of the consulate general will not be long in coming.”
