Ukrainian drones strike Lukoil refinery in Russia
Ukrainian drones struck Kstovo, a city in Russia’s Nizhny Novgorod region, overnight on May 20. Astra published footage showing the drones flying near residential buildings.
The strike targeted the Lukoil-Nizhegorodnefteorgsintez refinery, according to the outlet, which reported that a fire broke out at the facility. The Ukrainian Telegram channel Exilenova+ also reported the fire.
Analyzing photos and videos of the blaze, Astra said the fire appeared to have started at the refinery’s primary oil processing unit.
Schools in the Kstovo district switched to remote learning because of the drone threat, the mayor of the Nizhny Novgorod regional center, Yury Shalabayev, said.
Lukoil-Nizhegorodnefteorgsintez is one of Russia’s largest oil refineries, supplying fuel to Moscow and the surrounding Moscow region.
