Suspect arrested in murder of former Ukrainian parliament speaker Andriy Parubiy
The Ukrainian authorities have arrested a suspect in the murder of former parliamentary speaker Andriy Parubiy, who was shot in Lviv on Friday, according to President Volodymyr Zelensky.
The Interior Ministry and the Security Service of Ukraine said the suspect was taken into custody in the Khmelnytskyi region on Sunday night. His identity has not been disclosed.
Zelensky said the suspect has given an initial testimony. No further details have been released.
Andriy Parubiy served as speaker of the Verkhovna Rada from 2016 to 2019. His killer reportedly fired eight shots before fleeing, killing Parubiy at the scene. According to the Interior Ministry, the killing was carefully planned, and the perpetrator had been monitoring Parubiy’s movements.
