Ukrainian military analyst Serhii Beskrestnov published video evidence on Monday showing a member of Vladimir Putin’s security team carrying what appears to be a Yolka interceptor drone. The footage was filmed after Moscow’s Victory Day parade on May 9, according to video analysis conducted by journalists at Agentstvo.
The revelation highlights Russia’s heightened security concerns about Ukrainian drone attacks during major public events. The object visible in the guard’s hands resembles a “Yolka” drone — a kinetic unmanned aircraft. According to Russia’s official government newspaper, Rossiyskaya Gazeta, the device is “easy to carry and, in the event of a threat from an enemy UAV, can be quickly launched towards the attacking object.”
During Moscow’s May 9 parade, the city also restricted mobile Internet service. In occupied Crimea, Russian officials canceled a planned parade amid security concerns about continued Ukrainian drone strikes.
The Yolka drone represents one of Russia’s recent responses to Ukraine’s increasingly sophisticated aerial warfare capabilities. The device launches from reusable catapults and operates on a “fire-and-forget” principle, automatically targeting and destroying enemy drones through kinetic impact.
