Zelensky touts battle-tested Ukrainian drones as bargaining chip in ‘mega deal’ for U.S. weapons
Volodymyr Zelensky and Donald Trump are considering a deal under which Washington would purchase Ukrainian drones in exchange for Kyiv buying weapons from the United States, the Ukrainian president told The New York Post in an interview on July 16.
Zelensky revealed that his recent talks with Trump centered on an agreement aimed at enhancing the aviation technologies of both countries. According to the Ukrainian president, Kyiv is ready to share everything it has learned about modern warfare with the United States and European partners.
“I think this is really a mega-deal that benefits everyone,” Zelensky said.
Ukrainian drones have proven capable of striking targets deep inside Russian territory. “The people of America need this technology, and you need to have it in your arsenal,” Zelensky told the newspaper.
