Yekaterinburg church installs replica of pipe Russian soldiers crawled through to reach Sudzha
Yekaterinburg’s Church on the Blood — built on the site where the Romanov family was executed — has installed in its courtyard a replica of the pipe that Russian soldiers crawled through to enter Sudzha, then under Ukrainian control.
“A 16-meter [about 50 feet] section of pipe has been brought to the Church on the Blood. The diameter of the installed pipe precisely matches that of the pipeline that enabled our soldiers to achieve a heroic victory,” the church said in a statement.
The pipe will be part of an exhibition dedicated to the Russian military operation in the country’s western Kursk region, during which Sudzha was retaken. The exhibition is scheduled to open on March 25.
In early March, a group of Russian soldiers crawled several kilometers through a defunct gas pipeline to enter Sudzha from behind Ukrainian lines. Russian propaganda described the maneuver as “heroic” and “unparalleled,” though independent observers said it did not play a decisive role in the town’s capture.
