Moscow has officially welcomed Donald Trump’s efforts to shutter America’s foreign aid and development assistance agency, USAID. In comments on Monday during a Security Council meeting, Russian U.N. representative Vasily Nebenzya complained that the agency supports radicals “around the world.” He expressed satisfaction that Washington’s view has finally converged with Russia’s:

We are not at all surprised by the recent revelations regarding USAID’s activities. We have long said that it funds radicals around the world. It was previously written off as Russian propaganda, but in the end, it turned out to be true.

On February 10, law enforcement turned away dozens of USAID employees who showed up for work at the agency’s Washington headquarters. The Trump administration is currently tied up in court as it tries to disband USAID. Last week, the White House ordered layoffs for most of the agency’s 10,000 workers.
