Vladimir Feshchenko, a Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) officer, has been found dead in a building in central Moscow, state news agency RIA Novosti reported on Tuesday, citing law enforcement sources. “Preliminary information suggests he was murdered,” the agency quoted a source as saying.

The news of Feshchenko's death was initially reported by the anonymous Telegram channel VChK-OGPU, which claims to have insider information from Russian security forces. The channel stated that Feshchenko’s body was discovered with a wound to the forehead and that an acquaintance of his had been detained in connection with the incident.

The Telegram channel Baza, which is also linked to Russian security forces, also reported on Feshchenko’s death, but referred to him solely as a Russian kettlebell lifting champion and did not mention any FSB affiliation.

According to Baza, Feshchenko’s body was found in a building on Moscow’s Olkhovskaya Street. Among other things, the street is home to the FSB’s Moscow Military District Directorate office.
