Sergey Menyailo, head of Russia’s North Ossetia region, reported that a downed drone caused an explosion and fire in a shopping mall in Vladikavkaz. Citing information from Russia’s Defense Ministry, Menyailo said that Russia’s air defenses brought down the drone at 8:28 a.m. local time on December 25.
He added that the shopping center’s surveillance cameras showed that “the explosion occurred from the outside” and that bomb disposal technicians were searching for drone fragments.
Russia’s Defense Ministry has also collected information about other recent drone attacks in the North Caucasus region, Menyailo said.
