The flag of the Syrian opposition was raised over the Syrian Embassy in Moscow on Monday, according to the Russian state news agency TASS.

A day earlier, TASS reported that the Syrian flag and the plaque identifying the diplomatic mission had been removed from the building.

Former Syrian President Bashar al-Assad reportedly fled to Russia following the collapse of his regime and has been granted asylum by the Russian government. Moscow extended asylum to Assad “for humanitarian reasons,” according to the state news outlet RIA Novosti.
