Zelensky’s chief of staff meets with Trump team to discuss peace prospects — WSJ

Andriy Yermak, the head of the Ukrainian president’s office, met on Wednesday with U.S. President-elect Donald Trump’s nominee for national security advisor, Mike Waltz, and Trump’s nominee for special envoy to Ukraine and Russia, Keith Kellogg, Reuters and The Wall Street Journal reported.

According to the WSJ, U.S. Vice President-elect J.D. Vance also took part in the discussions. Earlier, Yermak reportedly met in Florida with Susie Wiles, who will serve as White House chief of staff under Trump.

Yermak, the WSJ’s sources said, “is visiting Washington to forge relationships with Trump aides.” According to the newspaper, Kyiv “plans to communicate its readiness for peace,” though a source familiar with the Ukrainian authorities’ thinking emphasized that it “needs to be a sustainable piece” as an “unstable, temporary peace doesn’t serve U.S. or Ukrainian interests.”
