Putin flaunting new Oreshnik missile to undermine Trump’s efforts to end war, says Zelensky
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said Vladimir Putin’s remarks about Russia’s new Oreshnik ballistic missile are an attempt to undermine the future efforts of U.S. President-elect Donald Trump to end the war.
“Today in Kazakhstan, Putin once again promoted his missiles — his readiness to kill and destroy. To the thousands of missiles that have already struck Ukraine, Putin clearly wants to add thousands more. He has no interest in ending this war. Moreover, Putin wants to prevent others from ending it,” Zelensky said during his evening address.
According to Zelensky, Putin “wants to escalate the situation now so that President Trump’s efforts are doomed to fail.” He added, “Putin’s current escalation is about exerting pressure to later force the U.S. president to accept Russia’s terms.”
