In latest repatriation of remains, 563 killed soldiers return to Ukraine, 37 to Russia
Ukraine and Russia have again exchanged the bodies of killed soldiers. The two warring nations’ latest repatriation of remains sent home the bodies of 563 Ukrainian soldiers and 37 Russian soldiers.
The returned Ukrainian soldiers’ remains were recovered from battlefields on the Donetsk front (320 bodies), the Bakhmut front (89 bodies), and “from Russian territory” (154 bodies). After repatriation, the remains are sent to state facilities where law enforcement representatives and forensic experts work to identify the deceased.
Russia still has not returned the body of Ukrainian journalist Victoria Roshchyna, who died earlier this year in Russian captivity.
