Russia’s Federal Investigative Committee has accused Burisma Holdings and other unnamed businesses of financing terrorist attacks in Russia and abroad with the aims of “eliminating” prominent Russian political and public figures and inflicting economic damage. The agency says it’s running down ties between the “direct perpetrators” of these terrorist attacks and their “foreign overseers, organizers, and sponsors.”
The Ukrainian gas company was at the center of the Biden–Ukraine conspiracy theory Donald Trump promoted in his 2020 reelection bid, claiming that Joe Biden improperly withheld a loan guarantee and took a bribe to pressure Ukraine into firing Prosecutor General Viktor Shokin to prevent a corruption investigation of Burisma and to protect his son, Hunter Biden, who was on the Burisma board.
