Metal fencing installed between subway station and church for Navalny’s funeral, mobile internet issues reported nearby

The authorities have set up a corridor of metal fencing from the closest subway station to the church in Moscow’s Maryino District where Alexey Navalny’s funeral will be held on Friday, according to a Mediazona correspondent at the scene. Another corridor has been erected from the station to the Borisovskoye Cemetery where he will be buried.

Officials also installed fences on a nearby bridge over the Moskva River. On both sides of the bridge, law enforcement officers are checking people’s documents and personal belongings.

Mediazona’s correspondent also reported issues with mobile internet service in the vicinity of the church: there is a delay of several minutes when sending messages in Telegram, and the Yandex.Maps app is not working.

According to SOTA, there are no fewer than 40 police cars near the church.

Alexey Navalny’s family and associates plan to bury him in Moscow on Friday, March 1. According to Navalny’s press secretary, a memorial service will be held at the Church of the Icon of Our Lady Soothe My Sorrows in the city’s Maryino District at 2:00 p.m. Moscow time. After that, they plan to bury him at the Borisovskoye Cemetery.
