Navalny sent to punitive isolation cell for 27th time since imprisonment

Jailed Russian opposition politician Alexey Navalny has been sent to a punitive isolation cell (ShIZO) for the 27th time since his imprisonment, according to his press secretary, Kira Yarmysh. Navalny was sentenced to 15 days in the cell.

Navalny’s previous stint in a ShIZO, where he was sent for 10 days, only ended on February 11. In total, he will have spent 308 days there since his imprisonment, Yarmysh added.

The prison authorities’ reason for sending him to the cell was not specified.
