Russia adds Meta press secretary Andy Stone to official list of ‘extremists and terrorists’

Russia's Federal Financial Monitoring Service (Rosfinmonitoring) has added Andy Stone, the press secretary for the Facebook and Instagram parent company Meta, to its registry of “extremists and terrorists.”

Stone’s name is marked by an asterisk on the agency’s site. According to Russia's official newspaper of record, Rossiyskaya Gazeta, this symbol is applied to “organizations and individuals for whom there exists evidence of involvement in terrorism.”

In November 2023, the independent outlet Mediazona discovered that Stone had been added to Russia’s federal wanted list in February of that year. Also in November, a Russian court ordered Stone’s “arrest” in absentia for “aiding terrorism.”
