Russia arrests former Zelensky adviser Oleksiy Arestovych in absentia
A Moscow court has sentenced Oleksiy Arestovych, a former adviser to the Ukrainian president’s office, to two months in prison in absentia.
According to the Moscow courts’ press service, Arestovych stands accused of publicly calling for terrorism and spreading “disinformation” about the Russian army.
Oleksiy Arestovych served as an adviser to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s office from December 2020 until January 2023, when he resigned after suggesting in an interview that a Russian missile that destroyed a residential building in Dnipro had been shot down by Ukrainian air defenses.
In May 2023, Arestovych was added to the Russian authorities’ registry of terrorists and extremists.
