Ukrainian military intelligence says Su-34 bomber plane caught fire in Russia
Ukraine’s Main Intelligence Directorate (GUR) says that a Su-34 bomber plane caught on fire at the Shagol military airfield in the Russian city of Chelyabinsk overnight on January 4.
According to the GUR, the plane belonged to the Russian Air Forces’ 21st Mixed Aviation Division. The GUR’s accounts posted a video of the burning bomber, which shows flames engulfing the bottom part of the plane. The extent of the damage is unclear.
Earlier, several Ukrainian media outlets reported on the burned aircraft, referencing Ukraine’s military intelligence. Hromadske and Ukrainska Pravda’s sources reported that Ukrainian intelligence was involved. Suspilne’s sources in special services called it a “special operation” carried out by Ukrainian military intelligence.
The Russian command has not yet commented on reports about the incident.
