An inoperative listening device has been found in a room where Ukrainian Armed Forces’ Commander-in-Chief Valerii Zaluzhnyi could conduct future work, says Ukraine’s Security Service (SBU). The SBU has opened a criminal case into the incident.

SBU sources told Ukrainska Pravda that the device was discovered during a December 17 inspection of an office Zaluzhnyi was planning to move into. The sources also reported that listening devices were found among several of Zaluzhnyi’s subordinates.

Commenting on the reports, former Ukrainian Deputy Defense Minister Hanna Maliar said she did not see the point in wiretapping since the military always takes the possibility of eavesdropping into account when communicating.
