International Olympic Committee allows Russian and Belarusian athletes to participate in 2024 Paris Olympics under neutral flag

Source: Meduza

The International Olympic Committee has decided to permit athletes from Russia and Belarus to participate in the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris as “individual neutral athletes.” These athletes will only be able to participate in individual sports. Teams of athletes from Russia or Belarus will not be permitted.

Athletes from the two countries who actively support Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine or who are contracted by either the Russian or Belarusian military or national security agencies will also not be allowed to participate.

No public officials or sports officials from either country will be invited to the Olympic Games in 2024.
