Jailed opposition politician Alexey Navalny reported on Friday that the Russian authorities have opened a new felony case against him.
According to a post on Navalny’s Telegram channel, he was given a letter from the Russian Investigative Committee informing him that he’s under investigation for violating part 2 of Article 214 of the Criminal Code on two occasions. “I have no idea what Article 214 is, and there’s nowhere for me to look it up. You all will find out before I do,” he wrote.
Article 214 of the Russian Criminal Code prohibits vandalism. The charges could add up to three years to the 19-year sentence he’s already serving.
