Russia shelled the village of Chornobaivka in Ukraine’s Kherson region on Thursday, killing three and injuring five, according to Ukrainian Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko. More than 60 residential buildings were damaged, as well as other structures.

Head of the Ukrainian President’s Office Andriy Yermak posted photographs showing the aftermath of the shelling.

Initially, the Kherson regional prosecutor’s office reported that two people had died and five had been injured in the incident. Later, they updated the number of deceased to three.

Telegram channel Nikolaevsky Vanek wrote that the shelling was linked to an announcement of a military funeral by local authorities. On the morning of November 23, the Kherson regional military administration published a message saying that the funeral of 19-year-old soldier Artem Bazanov, who was killed in the Donetsk region, would be held in Chornobaivka.
