Dagestan Deputy Interior Minister Rufat Ismailov has been arrested, Russian state media reported on Tuesday, citing law enforcement sources. The authorities are conducting searches of his home and office.

According to RIA Novosti, Ismailiv is suspected of bribery.

On October 29, hundreds of Dagestan residents traveled to the airport in Dagestan’s capital, Makhachkala, in response to anti-Semitic messages about “Israeli refugees” arriving in the city. The gathering descended into a riot, forcing the airport to shut down. The following day, the republic’s interior ministry reported that 83 people had been arrested in connection with the unrest and that 150 participants had been identified.
