A Moscow court has terminated the parental rights of Marina Ovsyannikova, the former Russian state TV employee who ran onstage with an anti-war banner during a live broadcast in 2022, the Telegram channel Sotavision reported on Thursday, citing the court’s press secretary.

The ruling is the outcome of a lawsuit filed by Ovsyannikova’s ex-husband, an employee of Russia Today. It applies to both of the couple’s two children: 11-year-old Arina, who now lives with her mother in Paris, and 17-year-old Kirill, who remains with his father in Moscow.

“This decision is political. I my children will be proud of me one day. Proud that I sacrificed everything for the sake of them living in a free country that doesn’t wage wars of conquest and doesn’t attack its neighbors under cover of night,” Ovsyannikova said of the ruling.
