Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu was shown purportedly visiting the “special military operation” zone in Ukraine, as per a video published by the Russian Defense Ministry on October 25.

According to the Russian Defense Ministry, during his visit, Shoigu “inspected the forward command post of the Vostok Battalion,” in the Donetsk region. He also received a report from the battalion commander, Lieutenant General Andrey Kuzmenko, on creating “regular UAV units” and providing all units with drones for strike and reconnaissance purposes.

After hearing reports on operational winter preparedness, Shoigu emphasized the need for adequate winter gear and heating facilities for the troops. He also gave “Gold Star” medals to soldiers who had received the title “Hero of Russia,” expressing his wishes for their health and safe return. This visit marks Shoigu’s first reported presence in the combat zone in Ukraine since August.
