Oryx says nine Russian helicopters destroyed, 15 damaged, in Ukraine’s October 17 attack
Seven Ka-52 and two Mi-8 helicopters were destroyed in Ukraine’s October 17 strike on airfields in Russian-occupied Berdyansk and Luhansk, according to Oryx which tracks, among other things, Russian military equipment losses. Oryx analyst Jakub Janovsky said that another 15 helicopters were damaged, possibly beyond repair.
On October 17, the Ukrainian military announced that it had struck airfields in Luhansk and Berdyansk, causing damage to Russian equipment and facilities. According to Western media, Ukraine used ATACMS missiles, which the U.S. had recently sent to Ukraine, to strike the airfields.
