Source: Meduza

26-year-old Ukrainian journalist Victoria Roshchyna has gone missing while preparing to report in Russian-occupied territory, reported The Daily Beast, who spoke with Roshchyna’s family.

The journalist’s father said that she travelled from Ukraine to Poland on July 27, and was then planning to go through Russia to occupied parts of Ukraine. The last time she spoke with her parents was on August 3, when she told them she went through several border checks, but didn’t specify where she was exactly.

Roshchyna’s father said that, according to Ukrainian special services, she was detained by Russian representatives and may be in a Russian penal colony.

The International Women’s Media Foundation reported that they were “extremely concerned” about Roshchyna’s safety and called on the international community to pay attention to her disappearance.

Sevgil Musaeva, the editor-in-chief of Ukrainska Pravda, asked the Ukrainian authorities to do everything possible to find Victoria Roshchyna, and called on the Russian authorities to quickly release her.
