Ukraine to build first underground school in Kharkiv to continue in-person education ‘even during missile threats’
The authorities in the Ukrainian city of Kharkiv plan to build an underground school, reported Kharkiv’s mayor Ihor Terekhov on his Telegram channel.
“We are planning to build Ukraine’s first underground school, which will address the most modern regulatory requirements for protective structures. This shelter will allow thousands of children in Kharkiv to continue safe, in-person education even during missile threats,” said Terekhov.
The city’s mayor noted that the authorities in Kharkiv continue to invest in education and will not reduce expenditures on it in 2023-2024, “despite the lack of funds from the budget.”
