Russian opposition politician Vladimir Kara-Murza, who was sentenced in April to 25 years in prison, was transferred out of Moscow’s Pre-Trial Detention Center No. 5 on Monday to an unknown location to serve his sentence, according to his wife, Yevgenia Kara-Murza.

Kara-Murza’s lawyer, Vadim Prokhorov, noted that his client was removed from the detention center before receiving a ruling on a cassation appeal against his sentence.

Vladimir Kara-Murza’s birthday is on September 7. He will turn 42 this year.
