American citizen serving sentence for bribery arrested by Moscow court on suspicion of espionage

A Moscow court has arrested U.S. citizen Gene Spector on suspicion of espionage, according to Russian state media. Spector, who was born in Russia, was sentenced to 3.5 years in prison last year for allegedly bribing an assistant of former Deputy Prime Minister Arkady Dvorkovich.

Spector previously served as the head of Medpolimerprom, a group of companies manufacturing plastic medical devices. The Russian authorities have not reported any details about the espionage charges against him.
