Poland’s Internal Security Agency has detained two Russian nationals who had allegedly been hanging recruitment posters for Yevgeny Prigozhin’s Wagner Group in public places around Krakow and Warsaw.

The Polish security agency’s head Mariusz Kaminski tweeted that the two suspects may face charges of espionage in Poland. TASS reports, citing further information from Kaminski, that the suspects, known as Alexey T. and Andrey G., had purportedly put up around 300 posters, snapping photos as proof of their work in order to get paid.

Last week, the British tabloid Express wrote about posters recruiting new Wagner mercenaries in Poland. “We are here,” they announced in English, inviting prospective recruits to get in touch.

Poland has strengthened border security after the president of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko made his country hospitable to Wagner troops in the wake of Yevgeny Prigozhin’s aborted coup.
