Journalists from BBC News Russian and the independent outlet Mediazona, working with a team of volunteers, have used open sources to confirm the identities of 30,003 Russian soldiers who have died in the full-scale war against Ukraine.
1,351 soldiers have been added to the list in the last two weeks. The number of missile and artillery troops killed during this period was higher than average, according to the journalists’ report.
Additionally, the last two weeks saw the deaths of four senior officers: Lieutenant Colonels Yegor Boldyrev, Andrey Koval, Anatoly Matinov, and Sergey Savenok. This brings the total number of senior officers killed in the war to 284.
The team noted that their estimate reflects the minimum possible number of Russian losses.
