The Ukrainian Armed Forces carried out a missile strike on the Chonhar Bridge, which connects annexed Crimea and the Kherson region, reports Sergey Aksyonov, the Russian-appointed head of the peninsula.

According to him, Ukraine struck and damaged the road bridge. Part of the missile was shot down by air defense systems. No injuries were reported.

Vladimir Saldo, the Russian-installed head of the annexed part of the Kherson region, claims that the attack on the Chonhar Bridge and the village of Chonhar was carried out by Storm Shadow missiles. According to the Saldo, a local school was also damaged.

Saldo also reported an attack on the Henichesk Bridge, which connects the city of Henichesk and the Arabat Spit. He claims that the Ukrainian Armed Forces launched 12 missiles, nine of which were shot down by air defenses.

A gas pipeline next to the bridge, which supplies the city of Henichesk, was also hit. One civilian who was on the bridge at the time of the strike was injured in the attack.

The Chonhar crossing, one of three on the border between Crimea and the Kherson region, was temporarily not in service, said the Transport Ministry of annexed Crimea. The Armiansk and Perekop crossings are operating normally.

The attack was later confirmed by the Ukrainian military’s Strategic Communications Directorate.
