Vladimir Putin signed a bill into law Friday that raises Russia’s official conscription age ceiling from 27 to 30 and leaves the minimum age at 18.
Additionally, the president signed legislation that prohibits conscripts and draftees from leaving the country from the day their military summons is sent. The restriction will remain in place until they report to an enlistment office. When the country’s digital register of military records begins operating, the ban will go into effect from the moment a citizen’s summons appears in the system.
