Journalists confirm 29,217 Russian servicemen killed in Ukraine since invasion’s start

Journalists from BBC News Russia and Mediazona, working with a group of volunteers, have used open sources to confirm the identities of 29,217 Russian soldiers who have been killed in Ukraine since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion.

The team has added more than 1,800 volunteers, draftees, and contract soldiers to its running list in the last month.

According to the researchers’ report, most of the new confirmed losses were linked to Moscow’s effort to repel Ukraine’s counteroffensive. As always, they noted that their estimate reflects the minimum possible number of Russian losses, and that the true number is doubtless much higher.
