During a broadcast of the Solovyov Live propaganda show, the spokesperson for Russia’s Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova compared the recent drone attacks on Moscow City, a high-rise commercial development in the Russian capital, to the 9/11 terrorist attacks in the United States.

According to Zakharova, the recent attacks on the Moscow-based business complex replicate the “methodology” of major terrorist attacks worldwide:

Let’s take a look at another example, September 11 and the Twin Towers. A colossal casualty count. But the methodology is the same. Moscow City is a civilian object, housing not just offices but also residential spaces, as well as civilian office spaces that have nothing to do with the military. It’s the very same picture we see repeating.

But the Kremlin is lukewarm about the parallel. The Russian president’s Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov says the Kremlin “doesn’t see” any analogy between the Ukrainian drone strikes on Moscow City and 9/11.

When asked whether additional security measures are being implemented in Moscow, Peskov replied: “It’s true that there’s a danger, it’s self-evident, and measures are being taken.”

The night before July 30, two UAVs shattered the glass facades of the Moscow City office towers. Another drone crashed into the same target two nights later, damaging the building that houses Russia’s Ministry of Economic Development.

Fear and bewilderment around the office towers

‘I was sure they wouldn’t get Moscow City!’ Workers and residents of the Moscow City commercial development react to last night’s drone strikes there
