Zelensky: ‘The war is returning to Russian territory’
During a briefing on the 522nd day of the Russia–Ukraine war, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said that Russia’s military has “suffered bankruptcy on the battlefield,” and that the war has come to Russian territory.
“Russian aggression has suffered bankruptcy on the battlefield. Today is the 522nd day of the ongoing, so-called ‘special military operation,’ which Russian leadership assumed would last a week or two. Ukraine is becoming stronger. Little by little, the war is returning to Russian territory, to its symbolic centers and military bases. This is an inevitable, natural, and absolutely just process,” said Zelensky.
Volodymyr Zelensky’s remarks followed a drone attack on Moscow in the early hours of July 30. Russia’s Defense Ministry says that Ukraine’s Armed Forces launched three drones at Moscow. One was reportedly shot down by air defense systems, while two more were suppressed by electronic warfare tactics, causing them to crash into the Moscow City building complex where, among other things, the offices of various Russian ministries are located. Emergency services say one person was injured.
