Russian Defense Minister Shoigu in North Korea for 70th anniversary celebration of country’s ‘victory’ in Korean War
Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu has arrived in North Korea, according to the Russian Defense Ministry.
In North Korea, a Defense Ministry delegation led by Shoigu “will take part in ceremonial events dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the Korean people’s victory in the Fatherland Liberation War of 1950-1953,” the Russian Defense Ministry said in a press release.
The ministry expressed confidence that Shoigu’s visit “will become an important stage in the development of cooperation” between Russia and North Korea.
Russia has been moving closer and closer to North Korea since the start of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine. U.S. media, citing intelligence sources, has repeatedly written that Moscow has been buying ammunition from Pyongyang. Officially, North Korea has denied it.
