Russian strikes on Odesa, Mykolaiv, and Sumy injure more than 20

Overnight, Russian troops launched kamikaze drones and missiles at Odesa, Mykolaiv and Sumy.

According to Ukraine’s Air Force Command, a total of 19 cruise missiles, including Onyx and Kalibr, and 19 drones were fired at Ukraine’s southern regions. Air- and land-based missiles were used in the attack, and launches were also conducted from a submarine in the Black Sea. Two sea-based missiles, three land-based missiles, and 13 drones were shot down, says the Air Force Command.

Ports, piers, residential buildings, and shopping centers were struck, the report said.

In Mykolaiv, city and regional authorities said, residential houses were damaged. Regional head Vitalii Kim said 18 people were injured, nine of them, including five children, were hospitalized. Two people were rescued from under the rubble. Kim also wrote that some have died as a result of the attack, but did not specify details.

Several buildings in Odesa were damaged, including a nursery school, city authorities said. The head of the regional administration, Oleh Kiper, wrote that there were two victims and a 300-square-meter fire as a result the shelling. The chairman of the Public Council of the Odesa regional military administration, Serhiy Bratchuk, reported four casualties.

In Sumy, a kamikaze drone hit the building of an out-of-school recreational institution, causing a fire, the regional military administration reported. A nurse was injured.

Kamikaze drones also attacked Chernihiv region, UNIAN writes, citing the head of the region, Vyacheslav Chaus. According to Chaus, several houses have been damaged, and some residents are to be relocated.
