Novaya Gazeta journalist Elena Milashina, who was attacked in Grozny, told the Live Nail project that she was not going to give up going to Chechnya.

What hurts me the most in this situation is for Chechens. That the entire nation can be associated with this atrocity. That is the most offensive consequence of such situations. Because all this will pass — the hair will grow back, the green will wash off. I’ll continue going Chechnya, whether Kadyrov wants it or not. It’s not up for discussion. It hasn’t been discussed since 2006, on October 7, when (Anna) Politkovskaya was killed. But I feel sorry for the Chechens, because they’re not barbarians or beasts. They have nothing to do with it.
