Independent Russian publication Verstka reports that Belarus has started building camps for Wagner Group fighters. The camps will be located in the Mogilev region of Belarus, approximately 200 kilometers (124 miles) from the border with Ukraine, and will be able to accommodate 8,000 fighters.
Mogilev’s regional authorities were reportedly instructed to start building the camps. According to Verstka’s source, there will be several camps, one of which will be located near the town of Osipovichi.
Relatives of those in Wagner Group have confirmed that the mercenaries will be sent to Belarus. One source told Verstka that Wagner Group units still remaining in Rostov-on-Don would be sent to Belarus. Another source said that her husband, who had been in Rostov on Saturday, had told her he’d “most likely” be sent to Belarus.
