Russian officials reported drone and shelling attacks in five different regions near the country’s border with Ukraine last night.

In the Smolensk region, Governor Vasily Anokhin said that two drones attacked fuel and energy facilities. He said the attacks occurred at about 3:00 a.m. in the villages of Peresna and Divasy and that nobody was injured and no infrastructure was significantly damaged.

The Telegram channel Baza reported that one of the drones exploded on the territory of an oil refinery and the other attacked a gas distribution station, sparking an explosion that damaged an administrative building.

Bryansk Governor Alexander Bogomaz reported that the Ukrainian military shelled the village of Lomakovka in the region’s Starodubsky District and the village of Novaya Pogoshch in the Suzemsky District, sparking fires in residential buildings in both villages.

In the Kaluga region, an “unidentified object” crashed in a forest and exploded, according to Governor Vladislav Shapsha.

Belgorod Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov initially said that the night was “relatively calm,” but that he could hear that “shelling by the Ukrainian Armed Forces was continuing” in the Shebekinsky district at about 2:00 a.m. He later reported that two women were killed in the village of Maslova Pristan when shell fragments hit the car they were driving. In addition, he said, two men in a second car were injured and have been hospitalized in critical condition.

Kursk Governor Roman Starovoit said that Russian air defenses shot down “several Ukrainian drones” in the region overnight. According to Baza, the attack lasted for about 30 minutes and a total of eight drones were downed. Debris from the weapons reportedly damaged several residential buildings.
