Putin, Foreign Affairs Ministry call Moscow drone attacks ‘retaliatory’ ‘terrorist attacks’
Russian president Vladimir Putin blamed Ukraine for a Tuesday morning drone attack on Moscow, calling the attack retaliation for a Russian strike on Ukraine’s military intelligence headquarters reportedly carried “two or three days ago.”
“We were already talking about the possibility of striking decision-making headquarters, decision-making centers. It stands to reason that Ukraine’s military intelligence headquarters, which we hit two or three days ago, would belong in that category. In retaliation, the Kyiv regime chose another route, the route of trying to intimidate Russia, intimidate the citizens of Russia, and strike residential homes,” said Putin.
Ukraine has not confirmed a strike on its military intelligence headquarters.
Putin also called the May 30 drone strikes “a terrorist attack.” During the attack, he said, Russian air defense systems were “normal, satisfactory” though “there’s still work to be done.”
Russia’s Foreign Affairs Ministry, meanwhile, condemned “attempted terrorist attacks by the Armed Forces of Ukraine” on Moscow and surrounding districts on the morning of May 30:
These attacks were planned and carried out by the neo-nazi Kyiv, which has made terrorist methods a sinister practice. Its creators have long and openly called for “retaliatory strikes” against Moscow. Similar attacks, which make no sense from a military point of view, seem to be directed against the civilian population with the goal of sowing panic.
The Russian side reserves the right to take the most severe measures in answer to the Kyiv regime’s terrorist attacks.
